Scrolling may seem like a waste of time on the surface, but it's actually releasing dopamine in our brains! So happily scroll away. 

Everyone likes to scroll. No matter who you are or what you do, you have something you scroll. A guilty pleasure of old high school photos, reels on Instagram, or something else. Everyone has their thing, and it's easy to spend time doing it. We used to wait in a doctor's office just staring into space or twiddling our thumbs. Nowadays, we go to our phones. So many of us wake up with the feeling that we want to scroll, and it's the first thing we do in the morning. If we can't sleep, we scroll. If we're waiting for something, we scroll, or if we feel awkward and need to escape into our own world somehow, we scroll. 

Scrolling cat memes doesn't have to be a guilty pleasure – no guilt is needed when you're admiring little, cute kitties and wishing they were curled up in your lap. The thing about cats is that they're simultaneously adorable, hilarious, and chaotic. They balance sweet and malicious better than any other animal out there. Who else could be chaotic meowing zoomies at 4 am, and then a few hours later resemble a cozy, bundled angel in a blanket when you actually wake up in the morning? It sometimes seems impossible that our cats are this didactic and split, but they really are. So if you're spending your weekend in bed, resting, and scrolling cat memes, just know that you're not alone.

  • I see cat memes all day for work, so usually when I get home and have the time to scroll, it's not something I normally go to. Sometimes I scroll cooking videos, and especially Italian food. Certain comedians can make me crack up in a silly scroll session. I'm not super into social media, so I actually prefer listening to music, watching something, or playing video games to scrolling. It's easily accessible, and of course I do it, but it can leave me feeling empty and flat. Sometimes I just prefer to photo scroll through an old group chat, or my camera reel of cat photos.
